December Daily-1,2,3, and 4

I'm trying to view this blog as a way to document memories since I don't do physical scrapbooks anymore.  I'm always taking photos, so it sorta makes sense to take this approach.  In prior years I've taken part in Ali Edwards December Daily, so I'm going to try to do so this year via the blog.  Here's what December 1-4 have looked like:

My Reindeer Games Hat, I've been wanting to knit this for a couple years and finally ordered the called for yarn and eventually located the beads at Michael's.  I'm enjoying it a lot, but found I had to get creative with the placement of the beads on the reindeer.  This has been my TV knitting as well.  I hope to have this completed by the weekend so I can wear it for the cooking baking/exchange on Sunday.

Me trying to pick up Sophie-neither of us are amused!
A little elf at worked left me a box of chocolates, they look festive in the Waterford bowl that Andrew brought back from Ireland a couple years ago.

Our first Christmas card from my cousin Della in the UK.  It is a depiction of a scene from the village Princes Risborough where she has lived all her life.  We have visited a couple times and its a very charming place.  The lights are on the balcony, but this year there is no full size tree.  What we do have by way of trees will be in another post.

Five on Friday

1.  Still enjoying the balcony [Sophie is too, but she is pretty worn out from being at my office today]-I have gone from coffee to a glass of prosecco!

2.  Looking forward to a low country boil with Steve at Vino Venue tonight.  I know a few ladies I'd love to have join me here some time for wine tasting and perhaps to share a smoke salmon quesadilla!

3.  Over this long weekend there will be college football [maybe at Fado's at 7:00 am?!  GT vs BC] Definitely knitting, church [first time in a while], a quick lunch and a movie on Sunday.  I am hoping that The Light Between the Oceans in movie format is as good as the book.  I haven't even looked at the reviews.

4.  One special project that I hope to have finished this weekend.  Putting all of the cards, messages, etc for PJ into one special place.  My goal is to have all of the childhood/baby stuff for both boys consolidated and moved into the closet until our next move.

5.  Will be getting a hands on lesson for my new laptop tomorrow at the Apple store.

I'm pretty excited about what the weekend has in store for me-hope this Labor Day weekend finds you relaxing and not laboring.  I'm also hoping that we'll have a true break from the hot-hot weather.

5 on Friday

I have been such a bad blogger lately, and it seems like the last few months have been non stop purging, packing, shuffling, moving and selling!  There have been a few bike rides, knitting, and a quick visit with the in-laws, but honestly, I'm soooo ready to have this moving thing over and done.  Here's a glimpse at my August calendar which is chock full of lists and appointments still to come.  After all the work we've been doing to get the house ready, it seemed like ages before we got a contract on our house, and believe me I was getting a little worried.  Right now we are on course to close on 8/31, paperwork seems to be in order, requested repairs are being made, and we are moving things into storage at what seems like a snail's pace.  The closing for me will be a great way to end the month and the summer.  I know summer isn't officially over until the end of September, but once kids are back to school that sorta says end of summer to me!  With that being said, I'm getting pretty excited about fall.

So here are my 5 things on Friday:

Looking forward to: lunch with PJ, Andrew and Charlotte today, and the 1st pre-season game for the Falcons that Andrew and I will be going to tonight.  Just hope I can stay awake til the end!

Excited about:  Mary, Karen, Katie and Charlie coming for birthday knitting tomorrow.  Then another visit with Brenda at the end of the month.  Even though our new place is small I'm enjoying having company so much more now.

Planning to: knit a baby blanket for a co-worker who just told me he's going to be a daddy in 2 months!  I had best get to knitting!  They don't know what they are having, so I may end up doing something in a soft grey.  I also have another co-worker who has a baby girl on the way in January, but I got time for that project.

Need to:  block a finished shawlette and kitchener the toes on a pair of socks [then block].

Hoping that: the paving is finally done at our complex and there will actually be stripes for parking cause people are parking all which-away-grrr.

Happy Friday, and I hope the rest of your summer is filled with fun and excitement.

Spring cleaning

Friday's are for spring cleaning around my work space.  I should blog about our weekend to Savannah and Statesboro, but most of the photos are on my DSL camera, and I didn't take near as many photos as I'd have liked.  I might still do that blog post.  Since I knew today would be pretty laid back it seemed like the perfect day to dust-disenfect-purge.  I not only did the physical cleaning which I try to do frequently anyway, I purged lots of files on my desk top.  I have 2 systems that I work between, and the lesser used one had documents going back to 2008!  Yep, those can go for sure.  Lots of deleted emails and an empty recycle bin are sure to make the hard drive zip-zip along now that all the stuff is gone.  I have some purging and organizing at home that I'd still like to complete, and my knitting bag well that has certainly been purged with FOs-yea!

Now there's something to blog about-right?  Well in just a few I'll be taking my lunchtime walk around midtown-it's a gorgeous day out.  Then heading to Cast on Cottage where I hope they haven't already boxed up their Shibui trunk show.  I'm getting pretty excited about warm weather knits.  I love the fresh and re-freshing of spring, and how appropriate for this Good Friday!

Happy Friday-hope spring weather is shining down on you.

October has come and gone.

Lots of different views this month.

~Celebrating Sophie's birthday, of course, she makes several appearances throughout the month.
~Knitting/knitwear was featured 6 times (the Falcons project bag contains a WIP)
~Football was prominent-Georgia Tech and Atlanta Falcons-at least logos were there.
~Highlights from my trip to visit my inlaws
~2 film stars made an appearance on the 7th, Chevy Chase and Ed Helms-in the area filming the      next Vacation movie.  I also saw Beverly DeAngelo.
~several pictures of looking up down and forward-none looking back!
Looks like I also got to spend quite a bit of time outside.  We had some lovely weather this month.  I believe winter is right around the corner based upon this past weekends weather.

Hope October had some lovely highlights for you!
