Weekend Fun

While the calendar says it's time to put up the white jeans and shoes the weather clearly hasn't gotten the message.  While we had a few days in the 80s it hasn't taken long for the temps to creep back up in the afternoon.  This long Labor Day weekend had a wonderful blend of fun and "must dos"

10.  Football-went to Fado's to see the Georgia Tech vs Boston College game with a local kick off time of 7:30 AM!
 9.  Steve and I finally put up all the artwork that we wanted at the apartment.  There are a few things we want to get reframed, and some things for the office., but for the most part is is done!
 8.  Organized some of the boys stuff-always good do to a little purging and organizing.
 7.  A bike ride-just one as I had other things to do this weekend, but it was great to get out on the road
 6.  A lovely day with Mary-church, lunch [smoke salmon pizza anyone?!], and the movies to see The Light Between Oceans.  So good!  The knitwear was so much fun to see-the period costuming was amazing.
 5.  Sewing- almost done with Tieman baby #2
 4.  Laundry-not fun, but you know something you have to do.
 3.  Reading, I finished The Paris Architect-such a good book, but it ended abruptly so I don't know how I feel about it.  This is a book that will be discussed at my local library so I'll be interested to hear what others have to say about the ending.
 2.  Enjoyed a low country boil on Friday night along with some banana pudding, and burgers on the grill.  Definitely a last blast of summer activity!
 1.  Took a class at the Apple Store-am getting more comfortable with my MacBook.  The Apple Store is such a cool place.

Hope you enjoyed a long weekend, or at least a weekend that brought some joy to your day(s).

Is it spring?

Possibly-other than Monday, the weather here has been pretty nice.  I've been able to spend 30 minutes or so with Sophie in the backyard after work.  Fun for us both, me with a glass of wine, and she get's to run around chasing the tennis ball.  Yesterday I only had to wear a fleece jacket to stay warm, and I grilled chicken for our dinner.  This time last year we were under a blanket of snow, or at least by Atlanta standards it was a blanket!  Am making the most of days like this cause I know February, March and April can be pretty unpredictable in our area.  The next couple weekends will be jammed packed, so I'm trying to use my days during the work to do the un-fun things like cleaning and laundry.  How're things in your neck of the woods?

Weekend Lens

Now that I've released myself from Project Life, I hope to be a better blogger. I'm also going to make a concerted effort to use my digital camera a lot more. I managed some pretty good photos on both the digital camera and my I-phone. I also got LOTS of things done, but I did fall short on finishing 2 things that I was sure I could make happen. I guess I really can't knit in my sleep! Saturday included the final bit of cutting before sewing some exchange blocks together-trying to use the self timer!

Fresh baked bread on Saturday AND Sunday, I love this book, and I FINALLY realized a couple things I was doing wrong in my baking. The stone goes on the very bottom, and the broiler pan that holds the water goes above the bread-duh. It is actually in the baking instructions how'd I miss that?! Also, the oven has to be at 450 degrees for 20 minutes before the baking begins- yea that was in the instructions too. Am feeling really inspired now to try more of the recipes in the book.  Also, made some chocolate chip cookies-there is nothing better than fresh baked goodies.
I got some deep cleaning accomplished, laundry, and rode my bike indoors for my exercise.  Looking forward to warmer weather so I can ride outdoors-so different and very invigorating.

I dropped off what I hope is the final load of stuff at Goodwill until we actually put our house on the market, and need to do a final purge.

Moved all my knitting books and patterns to my side of the office, and dropped off 79 books at the library.  It felt really good having completed this task.  The basement warehouse is much more empty than it was a couple months ago.

Sewing blocks for the exchange-ended exactly where I wanted, but realized I may be missing the squares for another club members blocks-ugh!

I started this hat which I actually hoped I'd finish, but I took advantage of the daylight to work on Aperture-I'm only about 1/2 way through the short rows on the collar, then I still need to weave in the ends and block-will this project EVER be finished?!

Sunday was church, sewing, knitting, grilling, and spending some time with Sophie in the back yard.  It was on the cool side, but so nice to be outside.

I also finished The Light Between the Oceans and LOVED it!  I started Daughter of Fortune, and am pleased that I'm making serious headway on my Book Riot's Read Harder Challenge.  I'm looking forward to a pretty simple week, with activities planned for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.  One of my goals for 2015 is to keep my schedule simple and open, and enjoy the right now.
